We recently asked our staff to reflect on what they love most about helping kids discover their greatness. One team member shared this story about a youth he worked with last summer:
“Not too long ago, I was able to talk to a former client on the phone. He was excited to tell me that he was a pitcher on an AA baseball team (…) During this youth’s time at the program we spent hours playing baseball together. We would take turns pitching each other fastballs. At first, I let up a bit when playing with him, but by the end of the summer I was giving it 100% against him. He kept striking me out and hitting home runs! I always knew he had great skills for somebody his age and saw the potential in him. I encouraged him to stay involved with baseball and to keep practicing. We spoke of the possibility of him someday playing competitively. I do believe that the extra hours of practice, baseball tips, and encouragement has helped him discover his greatness.”
